Autumn at Warsaw

Please enjoy these three videos about György Ligeti’s extraordinary Etude no. 6 for piano, Autumn at Warsaw. The first describes its inspirations ranging from African drumming to Chopin to Nancarrow to rhythmic layering to political turmoil. The second shows in detail how the rhythmic layering is achieved. The third is a video performance with images of revolutionary activity in Poland in the 1980s.
